Cranbrook is a part of the Westmount neighbourhood, specifically on the west side of Wonderland. It is home to a range of housing types including single family homes, duplexes, town homes and apartment buildings.   The older part of the neighbourhood was built in the 1970s, and new houses still being built on the neighbourhood's western edge. Westmount Mall serves as a transit hub and centre for shopping and community services.

Cranbrook is home to Westmount Park, Viscount Woods, Lynngate Grove Park, and Cresthaven Park. The Southwest Optimist Park is the neighbourhood's main park with two baseball diamonds and 2 soccer fields with a small field house and parking lot off Southdale.  Woodcrest Community Pool is close to Lynngate Grove Park. The StarTech.com Community Centre, YMCA, and Library is located on the corner of Southdale and Bostwick, providing area residents with multi-purpose community space, an indoor pool and gymnasium, double pad arena, YMCA fitness facility, and Library branch.

Students in the Cranbrook area may attend St. Rose of Lima, Westmount, or Kensal Park French Immersion elementary schools and high school students attend Saunders Secondary School or St. Thomas Aquinas.  The Family Centre Westmount is located in Jean Vanier and is where families can access the many services and resources available to them.
