Located in west London, the Oakridge neighbourhood is mainly residential, with many families and young children.  The area south of Oxford Street is characterized by many 1950s and 1960s era single family homes built on wide lots.  The area north of Oxford Street was developed more recently, with homes built in the 1970s and 1980s.  There are also townhomes and apartment buildings throughout the neighbourhood.  The major commercial area is located at the corner of Oxford Street and Hyde Park Road.

Oakridge has many parks, but the largest and most central is Oakridge Optimist, which has an outdoor pool, spray pad, baseball diamond, tennis courts, play structure, and recently renovated arena. Oakridge also has many schools: Riverside, Clara Brenton, West Oaks French Immersion, St. Paul, and Notre Dame elementary, as well as Oakridge Secondary.  St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Secondary School is also in the area.

The Thames Valley Golf Course is located at the southern portion of the neighbourhood and is London’s oldest publicly owned golf course, established in 1924.  It has 18-hole and 9-hole courses, both of which feature picturesque holes on the banks of the Thames River.
