As the sun goes down, your neighbours gather and the opening credits roll. The only question is: who will bring the popcorn?

Warm summer evenings in London are the perfect time to watch a movie outdoors. What’s even better is the opportunity to invite your neighbours and forge strong community bonds. An outdoor neighbourhood movie is the perfect way to create community connections without the pressure and stresses of formalities. Just sit back and enjoy the show.

Two thumbs up or two thumbs down, it doesn’t matter. With the Outdoor Movie program, you’ll have produced and directed a blockbuster evening, where friendship and memories will be made.

The Outdoor Movie Nights Program is available to residents and neighbourhood groups interested in providing a free public movie viewing in a City park. Organizers are required to provide the film and promote the event to their neighbourhood. The City provides the equipment (screen, projector, media player, speakers), license for a public viewing, set up and take down of equipment, and two City staff.

This program is for resident-led and neighbourhood-based groups only. Schools, school councils, faith based organizations, place of worship, businesses, or non-profit organizations may not apply.

Movies may be shown between June and September. Please note, due to staff limitations, not all dates are available.

Application Process

Applications open on February 1st for the Movie Night season. There are a limited number of movie nights available so not every applicant will be able to participate in the program. Priority will be given to groups that are organizing other activities (food, games, etc.) to make the event an opportunity for neighbours to connect.

If you have any questions, please see the Movie Night Guidelines, email us or call 519-661-5336.
